Volvo has introduced its much-awaited XC70 in China. The new-gen XC70 is built on an all-new platform, and it replaces the estate design of the old XC70. Read its complete details below.

Volvo XC70 PHEV: Design
The new-gen XC70 is based on the new Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA) platform, which has been specifically developed for the small, sturdy, and efficient EVs.
The new XC70 replaces the old estate design with a crossover outlook. At 4.81 meters, the XC70 falls in the BMW X5 territory, while its design mimics the Volvo philosophy. The front-end is equipped with a covered fascia design, Thor’s Hammer LED DRLs, and active aero flaps that aid cabin cooling and aerodynamics.
The side profile is loaded with frameless doors, flush door handles, curved wheel arches, and a full-size panoramic sunroof. Customers in China get different alloy wheel size options, ranging from 19 inches to 21 inches.
Similarly, the rear design features the vertical LED taillights, clean body lines, and a slightly sloping roofline with an integrated spoiler.
Volvo XC70 PHEV: Interior and features
The cabin design of the XC70 looks upmarket and spacious. Due to the new architecture, it has a flat floor design, which makes for more legroom at the rear.
The cabin is finished in a light theme with leather upholstery, a new two-spoke steering wheel, and a double-decker dashboard. It gets 408 litres of boot space, which is extendable up to 1,456 litres by folding the rear seats.

Volvo XC70 PHEV: Engine specifications
Volvo is yet to reveal the exact details of the XC70 engine options. However, it is rumoured to be offered with a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, range-extender powertrain that will make 161 bhp, and it will offer a total range upwards of 1,200 km.
This little engine will come mated to the option of two battery packs: 21.2 kWh and 39.6 kWh.
The front-wheel drive engine will offer 314 bhp and an EV-only range of up to 116 km. Furthermore, it will do 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds.
Meanwhile, the AWD long-range version will get the bigger battery with 456 bhp. It will offer an EV-only range of up to 180 km, while 0-100 km/h will come up in 5.3 seconds.
Volvo XC70 PHEV: India launch
Volvo has made the XC70 plug-in hybrid exclusively for the Chinese car market. However, it will mark its debut in Europe later. There are no details regarding its India launch plans as of now.
