What do we know about the KTM 160 Duke?

The upcoming 160 Duke was reported under construction earlier this year. The Austrian performance motorcycle brand has now shared the first teaser of the new bike. It is likely to debut in India by the end of August 2025.

The 160 Duke is suspected to be based on the 200 Duke’s platform, which will allow it to offer better performance in a scaled-down package. Additionally, online rumours suggest that it will replace the 125 Duke, which is the most affordable KTM product in India right now.

New KTM 160 Duke

The interesting bit is that it will be based on the second-gen 200 Duke’s platform, and not use the latest third-gen chassis to meet the cost targets. Moreover, the new 160cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine will also be a stripped-down version of the 200cc motor of the 200 Duke.

While the platform sharing will allow it to offer an aggressive price tag, which we suspect can be around Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom), it will get the latest KTM design bits. For example, it will feature the latest LED headlight design, a TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, ride modes, ABS and traction control, and other modern features.

More details regarding the new 160 Duke will be revealed in the coming days.

Our say

The new 160 Duke is KTM’s attempt to revive its dying sales and market in India. The brand that was once famous for offering affordable yet performance-packed bikes globally, is now struggling to make it out alive out of its financial crisis.
