BYD Atto 2, a new Hyundai Creta Electric rival coming soon?

BYD Atto 2

Unveiled earlier this year at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, BYD’s new electric crossover, the Atto 2, is soon going to launch in India. This assumption comes after the first test mule of the Atto 2 has been spotted in Delhi NCR.

The new Atto 2, which is also called Yuan Up in China, is a smaller crossover than the Atto 3, a premium SUV that is already on offer in India. Measuring at 4,310 mm in length, the Atto 2 falls in the Hyundai Creta Electric’s rivalry.

In terms of design, the Atto 2 has taken a more conventional shape with an overall boxy appeal and an upright stance. It features a cleaner design with connected LED lights on both ends, bumper-embedded aero dams, and dual-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Atto 2 EV features a more minimalist design with a 12.8-inch floating infotainment screen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument console. Feature-wise, it is loaded with a panoramic sunroof, ambient lights, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging, dual-zone auto AC, electric seats and more.

The international-spec Atto 2 is powered by a 45.1 kWh battery pack. The front-wheel drive system generates 175 bhp of power and 290 Nm of torque. The NEDC-claimed range of the Atto 2 is up to 380 km. We are assuming that the Indian-spec model will also feature the same battery and specifications.

As of now, the launch timeline remains unknown, but we are expecting BYD to launch it by the end of this year. It will not only compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, but also with the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

Our say

The electric crossover segment is rapidly growing in India. The Creta Electric has become a pivot in this segment, which is soon likely to face tough competition from smart EVs like the Atto 2.
