Upcoming Eka electric rickshaws: What to expect?

Eka 6S Electric Rickshaw

EKA Mobility is a Pune-based EV manufacturer that is currently working on the expansion of its commercial vehicle portfolio. To do so, it will soon launch two new electric rickshaws, which will offer 3-seater and 6-seater layout options.

Both of these upcoming e-rickshaws have been spied during the homologation testing in Pune. However, the brand has already revealed the specifications and other details of both of these upcoming models.

The 3S variant will be positioned towards the affordable price segment, where it will compete with the top brands like Bajaj Electric and Piaggio Electric. It will get a conventional design with big glass, side-opening doors for the second-row seats, and a soft-top canopy.

Eka 3S Electric Rickshaw

Powering the 3S model will be a 10.75 kWh LFP battery, which will offer a maximum range of 160 km. Moreover, it can reach a top speed of 60 km/h and offers 13.41 bhp of power and 55 Nm of torque.

The 6S variant features three-row seats with a bench-type layout for the second and third row. Additionally, it gets a proper steering wheel, unlike the handlebar steering on the 3S model. In terms of design, it will get the side-opening doors for the second row, a soft-top, and a round headlamp design.

Powering the 6S model will be a bigger 15 kWh LFP battery pack. It will offer a range of 140 km with a top speed of 50 km/h, while producing 16.1 bhp of power and 65 Nm of torque.

Considering the specifications, both models will be positioned at an aggressive price tag to take over the rivals.

Our verdict

The electric commercial vehicle segment is still expanding, while the new players like EKA Mobility have stepped into it to generate bigger profit shares for themselves. The upcoming 3S and 6S e-rickshaws from EKA will attack the more established rivals.
