TVS Motor Company has officially launched the all-new TVS Orbiter, a smart electric scooter designed for urban India. Positioned below the iQube, the Orbiter is TVS’s most affordable EV yet, priced at INR 99,900 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru, inclusive of PM e-Drive subsidy). With a clean design, practical features, and a strong focus on sustainability, the Orbiter aims to redefine daily commuting for young riders and city dwellers.
The launch comes as TVS celebrates over 6 lakh EV customers across platforms, and the Orbiter is clearly built to expand that number.
Design and Practicality
The Orbiter sports a minimalist silhouette with a tall flyscreen, flat floorboard, and a long 845 mm flatform seat. It rides on a segment-first 14-inch front wheel, paired with a 290 mm straight-line footboard for added comfort. The scooter offers 169 mm ground clearance, making it city-friendly and pothole-proof.
It’s available in six vibrant dual-tone shades:
- Neon Sunburst
- Stratos Blue
- Lunar Grey
- Stellar Silver
- Cosmic Titanium
- Martian Copper
Under the seat, you get a massive 34-litre boot, enough to fit two helmets or a week’s worth of groceries.
Powertrain and Range
The Orbiter is powered by a 3.1 kWh battery, paired with a hub-mounted motor. TVS claims an IDC range of 158 km on a full charge, which should comfortably cover most urban commutes. While acceleration and top speed figures haven’t been disclosed, the scooter is tuned for efficiency and ease of use.
Charging specs are expected soon, but TVS has hinted at compatibility with its existing EV infrastructure.
Features and Connectivity
TVS has packed the Orbiter with segment-first tech:
- Cruise control
- Hill hold assist
- Reverse parking assist
- Dual ride modes with regenerative braking
- LED headlamps and edge-to-edge combination lamps
The digital LCD cluster supports:
- Turn-by-turn navigation
- Call and SMS alerts
- Battery and odometer tracking via mobile app
- Crash, fall, geo-fencing, and anti-theft notifications
- Over-the-air (OTA) updates
There’s also a USB charging port, Bluetooth connectivity, and live location tracking for added peace of mind.
