Tesla’s Model Y has finally touched Indian soil, marking Tesla’s first all-electric SUV in the country. With its blend of performance, tech, and range, the Model Y has sparked plenty of questions among buyers. In this FAQ, we break down everything you need to know about pricing, range, Auto Pilot features, the Supercharging network, and after-sales support.
Pricing and Variants
Tesla India offers the Model Y in two rear-wheel-drive variants:
• Standard Range at INR 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom)
• Long Range at INR 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom)
On-road prices in Mumbai hover around INR 61 lakh and INR 69 lakh, respectively. Tesla includes Stealth Grey as the standard colour. Five other finishes—Pearl White, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Quick Silver, and Ultra Red—cost between INR 95,000 and INR 1.85 lakh extra. A dual-tone black-and-white interior is also a INR 95,000 option.
Range and Performance
The Standard Range packs a 63 kWh battery and delivers a WLTP-certified 500 km. The Long Range steps up to 83 kWh for a WLTP range of 622 km. Both variants top out at 201 km/h. Tesla claims a 0–100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds for the Standard and 5.6 seconds for the Long Range. Charging on a 320 kW V4 Supercharger can add up to 267 km of range in just 15 minutes.
Auto Pilot and ADAS
Tesla offers its Auto Pilot driver-assist suite as a INR 6 lakh add-on. In India, only basic ADAS features—lane keeping, adaptive cruise, and collision warnings—are active at launch. Tesla says full Auto Pilot and future self-driving capabilities will unlock via over-the-air updates once local regulatory approvals arrive. Drivers must supervise the system at all times.
Supercharging Network
Tesla plans to install V4 Supercharger stations at:
• Mumbai: Lower Parel, Bandra Kurla Complex, Navi Mumbai, Thane
• Delhi-NCR: Aerocity, Saket, Gurugram, Noida
Each location will host four high-power stalls with CCS Type 2 connectors. Tesla also intends to place chargers along key intercity routes and set up destination chargers at hotels and malls for overnight top-ups.
Sales, Service, and Support
Tesla operates on a direct-sales model. The first showroom opened in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, with a Delhi outlet to follow soon. Initial deliveries and registrations will begin in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram. Tesla will back owners with after-sales service centres in both metros, delivery hubs, and a network of logistics facilities. Buyers can also install home chargers through Tesla’s approved partners.
