Tesla Model 3 indicator stalk update – What’s the catch?

Tesla’s dying sales in China are leading to consistent updates and new model launches. After the introduction of the Model Y L, Tesla has now updated the Model 3 with an indicator stalk! Yes, you read it right. The Model 3, which was earlier launched without a physical indicator stalk, now gets it as standard.

As per the new update, the US-based EV maker has finally added the physical indicator stalk after negative feedback from Chinese customers. Moreover, the existing customers will now be able to upgrade to the physical indicator stalk via a retrofit kit that the company will sell soon.

The retrofit kit is called ‘Turn Signal Level Modification’, and it includes a new steering wheel along with the physical indicator stalk column. While this update seems like a boon to the Model 3 customers in China, Tesla has yet to reveal whether the same update will be rolled out for the international markets or not.

Meanwhile, Tesla has recently stepped into the Indian electric car market with its Model Y. However, there are rumours that Tesla will be launching its other popular EVs, like the Model 3, in India in the future.

Our say

The introduction of a physical indicator stalk in a car might sound weird, but that’s how Tesla thought it would be right for customers to use a touch-based indicator system, which seems to have backfired in China. Let’s see whether the international markets will get this update or not; we hope they do.
