Tata Motors has rolled out the new Winger Plus, targeting the fast-growing staff transportation and tourism market. At INR 20.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the 9-seater aims to balance passenger comfort with operator profitability, positioning itself as a premium option in the commercial passenger van space.
Comfort and cabin experience
Inside, the Winger Plus offers reclining captain seats with armrests, individual AC vents, USB charging points and generous legroom. The wide cabin and large luggage compartment add practicality for long-distance travel. Tata has clearly focused on enhancing the passenger experience, making it more aligned with personal mobility comfort standards rather than just utilitarian design.
Under the hoodÂ
The van is powered by a 2.2-litre Dicor diesel engine delivering 100 hp and 200 Nm of torque. Built on a monocoque chassis, the Winger Plus promises better ride stability, car-like handling, and reduced driver fatigue—an important factor for commercial operators covering long hours.
Connected and Business-Ready
Tata has equipped the Winger Plus with its Fleet Edge connected vehicle platform. This enables real-time vehicle tracking, diagnostics, and fleet optimization tools that can directly improve business efficiency. Add to that Tata’s Sampoorna Seva 2.0 program, offering annual maintenance contracts, spare parts availability, and roadside assistance, and it becomes a strong package for fleet operators.
Competitors and Market Context
The Winger Plus enters a segment with limited but strong rivals like the Force Traveller range, which dominates in staff transportation and tourism. Where Tata aims to differentiate is through comfort-focused features, connected tech, and lower cost of ownership. With India’s demand for safer, more comfortable passenger vans growing, the Winger Plus could find a sweet spot.
