A final goodbye to the Suzuki SV650

Suzuki SV650

Suzuki introduced the SV650 for the first time in 1999. The classic-looking, ye modern SV650, had ticked all the right boxes for new customers. Even in 2025, it is affordable, it has a well-built frame that can hold modifications, and its 645cc, V-Twin, 90-degree liquid-cooled engine makes a healthy 76 bhp and 94 Nm of power and torque.

Over the years, Suzuki has launched three generations of the SV650. But, with all the transformations, it never lost its charm of being a classic-looking modern bike. However, Europe is all set to introduce the next step of strict emission norms, and Suzuki has decided to bid adieu to the SV650 for good.

While the SV650 might not have made it to the Indian shores, its engine does come on the V-Strom 650 XT, which is although discontinued now, offered a fun riding experience. Moreover, the SV650 became uber popular only because of its fun-to-ride yet affordable packaging.

Suzuki has no plans to reintroduce the SV650 or a 645cc engine. This platform is already getting replaced by the V-Strom 800DE and the GSX-8T. Moreover, Suzuki has recently introduced the GSXR-1000R litre-class flagship bike once again.

Our say

The discontinuation of the SV650 is set to take place next year. For SV lovers, there is still time to buy the last batch of models, which are bound to become classics and collector’s items in the future.
