Small Tesla electric trucks to become a reality soon?
At a recent Tesla owners’ meet in the US, the company’s VP of engineering, Lars Moravy, stated that the company has always wanted to make smaller electric trucks, and its Cybertruck is not suitable for every market and work requirements.
Adding to the possibility of developing a new range of small electric trucks, Lars also stated that the robotaxis are the next big thing in autonomous driving, and the brand aims to do something similar with goods.
However, Tesla’s experiment with the Cybertruck has utterly failed due to the poor quality, large size, and radical design that offers very little practicality to the pickup truck owners. Therefore, a lot of potential buyers were lost in the marketing transition of Cybertruck worldwide.
But, the idea of making small pickup trucks that use advanced autonomous or self-driving technology could benefit the company and B2B transport companies on a large scale. Brands like UPS that rely on time deliveries can easily eliminate drivers and use self-driving trucks to minimise the human resources and efforts.
Nevertheless, the Tesla team is already in the design studio, working on a range of new e-trucks. However, we do not know when the world will see the new e-trucks launch.
Our say
Self-driving electric pickup trucks and private trucks of a smaller size, based on the utility and purpose fulfilment, will revolutionise the market. The pickup truck crazy markets like the US and Latin America will witness a gradual shift towards these e-trucks, if everything goes in the right direction.
