Mahindra’s upcoming Scorpio N Double Cab pickup has been spied testing in Nashik. With a bold stance, utilitarian design, and serious off-road hardware, this new lifestyle pickup is gearing up to take on segment leaders like the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross.
The test mule, wrapped in camouflage, reveals all signs of a vehicle built for rugged terrain. The steel wheels, chunky tyres, and long-travel suspension suggest this is a lower-spec variant, but it still commands road presence. Expect higher ground clearance than the Scorpio N SUV, making it better suited for trail duties.
Design and Utility
From the side, the pickup retains the Scorpio N’s DNA with squared-off wheel arches, shark fin antenna, and conventional door handles. The rear is all business—flat tailgate, halogen tail lamps, and likely a tow hook setup. The double cab layout ensures practicality for both cargo and crew.
Mahindra seems to be positioning this as a go-anywhere utility vehicle, with provisions for accessories like winch mounts, skid plates, and possibly radar units on higher trims.
Powertrain and Off-Road Credentials
Under the hood, expect Mahindra’s proven 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, tuned for either 130 hp / 300 Nm or 172 hp / 370–400 Nm, depending on the variant. Transmission options will likely include 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
The pickup will ride on a ladder-frame chassis, with both RWD and 4WD variants on offer. Top trims may feature Mahindra’s 4XPLOR Terrain Management System, offering modes like Normal, Snow, Mud & Ruts, and Sand. A shift-on-the-fly 4WD system, mechanical locking differential, and brake-locking differential are expected to boost its off-road prowess.
Launch Timeline and Market Positioning
While Mahindra hasn’t officially confirmed the launch date, the timing of these spy shots suggests a possible reveal at the Freedom_NU event on August 15. The Scorpio N pickup is expected to be offered in both single and double cab formats, targeting domestic buyers and export markets alike.
This could be Mahindra’s most serious attempt yet to crack the lifestyle pickup segment, which has long been dominated by Japanese rivals.
