Why has the launch of the 2026 Kia Seltos been delayed?

As per the online reports and rumours in the South Korean media, Kia has pushed the production and debut timeline of the new-gen Seltos mid-size SUV to April 2026. However, this news is yet to be officially confirmed by the company.

Multiple online reports suggest that the company is evaluating various aspects, which include the rise in input costs, brand strategy, and profit margins in the segment. Hence, the production timeline of the new-gen Seltos, which was earlier destined for January 2026, has been pushed to April 2026.

This means that the new-gen Seltos will now arrive in the third quarter of 2026 in India, or maybe even later. Meanwhile, the road testing phase of the upcoming model continues in South Korea and India.

Speaking of the known details about the updated SUV, it will feature an all-new 100 mm longer chassis that will offer more interior and cargo space. Additionally, it will get a completely revamped design with the new LED lights, a new front fascia, new alloy wheels, flush door handles, and a bigger profile.

Following the exterior theme, its cabin will also feature a new layout of seats, a new dashboard with a triple-connected screen, wireless features like charging and voice commands, and new autonomous safety assist features as well.

Meanwhile, the engine options on it are likely to remain unchanged. However, rumours hint at the debut of a new 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine, which will take on the hybrid rivals like the Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder.

Our say

The Seltos has been the pivot product for the company in the international market. However, the current-gen model now feels outdated, especially in the crucial market like India. The new-gen Seltos will revive the sales of the mid-size SUV globally.
