Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd has officially launched the Ape E-City Ultra and Ape E-City FX Maxx, expanding its electric three-wheeler portfolio with two new models aimed at transforming last-mile passenger transport. The launch marks a significant upgrade to the Ape Electrik range, combining performance, range, and smart tech to meet the evolving needs of Indian cities.

The Ape E-City Ultra headlines the lineup with a 10.2 kWh LFP battery, delivering 236 km certified range, 9.55 kW peak power, and 45 Nm torque. It features Climb Assist Mode, 28% gradeability, and a top speed of 55 kmph, making it ideal for flyovers and hilly terrain. The Ultra also includes 4G telematics, geo-fencing, remote immobilization, and a digital speedometer showing SOC, DTE, and system alerts.

Meanwhile, the Ape E-City FX Maxx is built for reliable daily use with an 8.0 kWh battery, 174 km range, and 30 Nm torque. It uses prismatic cell technology to reduce battery imbalance and extend life. The FX Maxx also offers smart energy monitoring, 19% gradeability, and a peak power of 7.4 kW, making it a practical choice for dense urban routes.

Built for India, backed by warranty

Both models feature a full-metal body, designed for durability and safety. Piaggio backs them with a 5-year/2,25,000 km warranty, setting a new benchmark in the segment. Charging times are competitive too—3 hours 45 minutes for the Ultra and 4 hours 45 minutes for the FX Maxx using off-board chargers.

The Ultra is priced at INR 3.88 lakh, while the FX Maxx starts at INR 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Both are now available at Piaggio dealerships across India.

Our Thoughts

The Ape e-City Ultra and FX Maxx are exactly what the segment needed. The Ultra’s Climb Assist and 236 km range are game-changers for city drivers who battle flyovers and traffic daily. The FX Maxx feels like the dependable workhorse with just enough tech to keep things smart. If Piaggio throws in a fleet management app with voice alerts, I’ll call it a full-blown upgrade to urban mobility.
