On the outside, the X-Trail Nismo is packed with a new sporty body kit that has a front bumper lip spoiler, a new Nismo-spec black chrome grille, black chrome highlights around the headlights, black side skirts, a sporty rear bumper with red pinstriping, an F1-inspired rear brake light, and a rear bumper diffuser.

As per Nissan, the new body kit offers a 29% reduction in the lift, as compared to the standard X-Trail. Additionally, it gets the specially crafted 20-inch lightweight black Enkei aluminium wheels with a wide centre opening for better brake cooling and a flat outer surface for improved body airflow of the SUV. Moreover, it is equipped with the Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres for improved grip and performance.

Interior changes

On the inside, it features black leather upholstery that is matched with sporty elements like red stitching on the seats and steering wheel, red accents on the dashboard, aluminium race pedals, Nismo-written door sills, and more. Customers can also opt for the optional Recaro race seats that come in a dual-tone black-red combination. These seats are also loaded with the electric adjustment and heating function.

Hardware changes

To improve the overall performance and balance of the X-Trail Nismo, Nissan has installed the Kayaba Swing Valve shock absorber dampers. These dampers reduce the body roll and increase the high-speed balance of the SUV. Nissan has also re-tuned the engine and the AWD 4ORCE system for better performance.

As per the details, the 4ORCE system increases the rear-wheel torque distribution and controls the directional turning of the front tyres. This cumulatively improves the handling and acceleration on the mid-corners. Moreover, Nissan has specially tuned the drive modes that differ the front and rear torque output as per the selected mode.

Meanwhile, the Sports mode has been improved with a new VCM (Vehicle Control Module) setting, which improves the responsiveness of the car. This mode is specifically tuned for track use.

Engine and specifications

Powering the new X-Trail Nismo is the tried and tested 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, petrol-hybrid engine that makes 211 bhp and 525 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to an e-CVT automatic transmission.

Our say

Nissan has specifically designed the new X-Trail Nismo for the Japanese car market. It will go on sale in Japan from September 24. However, the possibility of Nissan introducing it in the other global markets in the future can not be denied.
