What to expect from the new Harley-Davidson 440 motorcycle?
During a recent investor call meeting, Hero MotoCorp’s top officials confirmed that a new 440cc motorcycle is in the launch pipeline. It will be added to the Harley-Davidson product lineup, and it shall be launched by the end of September in India.
While not many details have been revealed regarding this unnamed bike yet, what is known is that it will be based on the X440’s platform. Moreover, it will be positioned above the X440, while it will offer a more premium outlook and highway-use-based appeal.
Recently, Hero has axed its Mavrik 440, which was based on the X440 itself. The Mavrik was witnessing extremely poor demand and sales ever since its launch. However, the brand feels that the Harley-Davidson brand name is much stronger in the metro, tier-1, and tier-2 cities. That’s why a new 440cc product will be added to the portfolio to further expand the brand.
As of now, we can only anticipate that this new upcoming 440cc bike could be a scrambler version. However, more details will only be revealed as we approach the launch timeline.
Our say
The expansion of the 440cc platform is expected to be beneficial for Harley-Davidson in India, as well as internationally. The X440 has received a commendable response globally, and it is doing decently in India as per the pre-launch expectations. Therefore, a new bike now makes more sense to step forward for growth.
