MG has officially stepped into the premium EV ring with the global debut of its IM5 and IM6 electric vehicles at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed. These aren’t just new models—they’re the face of MG’s new Intelligence in Motion (IM) sub-brand, aimed at tech-savvy buyers who want performance, luxury, and futuristic features without the six-figure price tag.
The IM5 is a sleek, coupe-style saloon with Porsche Taycan vibes, while the IM6 is a taller, more practical SUV with a 665-litre boot and a commanding stance. Both models share MG’s new 800V platform, enabling 10–80% charging in just 17 minutes.
Performance that punches above its weight
MG isn’t messing around with specs. The IM5 Performance variant packs 742 bhp and 802 Nm, sprinting from 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The IM6 SUV isn’t far behind, doing the same in 3.5 seconds.
Both cars feature dual-motor AWD setups, hydroplaning stability control, and rear-wheel steering—standard on the IM6 and optional on the IM5. The IM5’s turning radius is just 9.98 metres, making it surprisingly nimble for a saloon.
