VinFast Minio Green – Perfect rival for the MG Comet?

VinFast Minio Green EV

It seems that VinFast is in high spirits to take on the electric car market in India ahead of the official launch of its cars. While the brand has started inaugurating its dealerships across India, it is yet to reveal the prices of the VF7 and VF6 models, which will become the pivot point for Indian customers of the brand.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese EV brand has started homologating the design of its internationally popular products in India. One such design patent that has surfaced online is the Minio Green city hatchback. It has been registered recently, and we have high hopes that VinFast will launch it in the future.

The Minio Green EV makes a perfect rival for the MG Comet, as it is marginally bigger than the Comet and offers an identical performance. At 3.1 meters, the Minio Green offers more interior space and bigger dimensions. Moreover, it has 13-inch wheels that provide better ride comfort and control.

However, powering the Minio Green EV in the global market is a small 14.7 kWh battery pack. This battery is mated to a 20kW/65 Nm electric motor, which offers a maximum range of up to 170 km. These stats are lower than the MG Comet’s stats, as the MG’s little EV can cover up to 230 km as per the claim. However, the Minio Green supports a 12kW AC charger, whereas the MG Comet supports a 7.4kW AC charger.

Leaving the performance stats aside, the Minio Green is sold with a feature-packed cabin internationally. It comes equipped with the LED lights, two speakers, front disc brakes, manual AC, a four-way adjustable driver seat, and more.

Our say

While VinFast is struggling to meet the profit margins internationally, the brand is reluctant to expand in India with a diversified product lineup. The potential of the Indian EV market is pushing newer product launches, which include the bigger brands like Tesla, entering recently.
