Mahindra Vision.SXT Concept: A Wild Thar Pickup

Key highlights

  • Vision.SXT is Mahindra’s bold pickup concept based on the NU_IQ platform
  • Shares DNA with the Thar.e but adds a flatbed and dual spare wheels
  • Designed for global markets with ICE, hybrid, and EV potential

Mahindra has just dropped the Vision.SXT concept, and it looks like the Thar went off-roading, hit the gym, and came back with a flatbed and attitude. Unveiled at the Freedom_NU event, this beast is part of Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, which supports multiple powertrains and body styles. And yes, it’s unapologetically wild.

Design

The Vision.SXT is a pickup-style evolution of the Thar.e concept. It’s boxy, upright, and ready to rumble. Key design elements include:

  • Pixel-shaped dual projector headlights in square housings
  • Chunky matte-black grille with square motifs
  • Aggressive bonnet creases and silver skid plates
  • Flared wheel arches and off-road tyres
  • Flatbed rear with two spare wheels mounted upright
  • Slim LED tail lamps connected by a matte-black strip
  • Roof-mounted spoiler with high-mounted stop lights

It’s not subtle. It’s not trying to be. And that’s exactly the point.

Platform and Powertrain

Built on Mahindra’s NU_IQ modular architecture, the Vision.SXT is future-proof. The platform supports:

  • ICE, hybrid, and electric powertrains
  • AWD and FWD configurations
  • LHD and RHD layouts for global reach
  • Flat-floor architecture for better cabin space

This isn’t just a concept—it’s a blueprint for Mahindra’s next-gen pickups and SUVs.

Interior and Tech Expectations

While Mahindra hasn’t shown the cabin yet, expect:

  • NU_UX interface with dual-screen layout
  • Connected cockpit tech and terrain modes
  • Level 2+ ADAS features
  • Spacious cabin with command seating

If the exterior screams adventure, the interior will likely whisper sci-fi.

Global Intentions

Mahindra has made it clear—the Vision.SXT isn’t just for India. It’s aimed at white spaces in global markets, especially where lifestyle pickups are gaining traction. Production is expected to begin around 2027, and while Mahindra hasn’t confirmed if it’ll be electric, the signs point to multiple variants.
