Mahindra reveals Vision.X Concept: Next-gen 3XO?

Key highlights

  • Vision.X debuts as part of Mahindra’s NU_IQ platform, previewing a future sub-4m global SUV
  • Features sculptural athleticism, coupe-like roofline, and flush door handles
  • Expected to evolve into next-gen XUV 3XO and XUV400 EV for India and international markets

Mahindra has officially pulled the wraps off the Vision.X concept, one of four futuristic SUVs unveiled at its Freedom_NU event in Mumbai. Built on the brand’s new NU_IQ modular platform, Vision.X represents Mahindra’s push into global markets with a design that’s bold, expressive, and unmistakably athletic.

While the Vision.T, Vision.SXT, and Vision.S lean into rugged and iconic themes, the Vision.X stands out with its sleek, sculptural form and urban-ready stance. It’s the most market-ready of the bunch and is widely believed to preview the next-generation XUV 3XO and possibly the XUV400 EV.

Design

The Vision.X concept is all about sculptural athleticism. It features:

  • Slender LED headlamps and a sleek air intake
  • Flush-type door handles and a coupe-like sloping roofline
  • Elongated hood and dual-tone rear bumper
  • Floating roof design with integrated spoiler
  • Sharp character lines that accentuate its dynamic profile

Unlike the boxy Vision.T and SXT, Vision.X opts for fluidity and motion, making it ideal for urban buyers who want style without bulk.

Platform

Vision.X is underpinned by Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, which supports:

  • Multiple powertrains: ICE, hybrid, and electric
  • Flat-floor architecture for improved cabin space
  • FWD and AWD configurations
  • LHD and RHD adaptability for global markets

This platform is designed to resolve the usual trade-offs between performance, space, and tech, making Vision.X a strong candidate for both Indian and international roads.

Tech and Interior Expectations

While Mahindra hasn’t revealed the interior, expect:

  • Dual-screen layout with NU_UX interface
  • Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
  • Class-leading boot space and rear legroom
  • Sci-fi inspired ambient lighting and materials

The production version will likely carry Mahindra’s latest infotainment suite, wireless connectivity, and premium finishes.

Production Timeline

Vision.X is expected to enter production by 2027, alongside its NU_IQ siblings. It will likely spawn multiple variants, including ICE and EV models, aimed at the sub-4m SUV segment in India and compact crossover markets abroad.
