Mahindra has officially crossed the 20,000-unit sales mark with its BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs just five months after deliveries began. Together, these two born-electric SUVs have clocked over 9.3 crore kilometres on Indian roads.
The BE 6 and XEV 9e are built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform, designed specifically for electric mobility. And clearly, it’s working.
Battery, range, and performance
Both SUVs offer two battery options:
- 59 kWh: Real-world range of 500+ km
- 79 kWh: Certified range up to 682 km (BE 6) and 659 km (XEV 9e)2
Performance is equally impressive:
- Power: 230 bhp (59 kWh) / 285 bhp (79 kWh)
- Torque: 380 Nm across variants
- 0–100 km/h: 6.7 seconds
- Top speed: Over 200 km/h
And yes, they support DC fast charging up to 175 kW, which means 20% to 80% in about 20 minutes3. That’s faster than most people take to finish a roadside chai.
Features that make them stand out
Mahindra didn’t just build electric SUVs—they built tech-rich, family-ready machines:
- Triple-screen dashboard (XEV 9e) / Dual-screen setup (BE 6)
- 16-speaker 1400W Dolby Atmos audio system
- Level 2+ ADAS with self-parking and Boost mode
- Panoramic sunroof, wireless connectivity, and One-Pedal Drive
- Flat-floor layout and large boot + frunk for added practicality
- Five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating4
These aren’t stripped-down EVs pretending to be futuristic. They’re full-blown premium SUVs that just happen to run on electrons.
Sales, production, and future plans
Between January and June 2025, Mahindra manufactured 19,915 units at its Chakan plant, with 19,070 units dispatched to dealers. Monthly production has ramped up from 5,000 units in March to 8,000 units currently, with plans to hit 12,000 by March 2026 and 18,000 by FY27.
Interestingly, the XEV 9e accounts for 59% of total bookings, while the BE 6 makes up the remaining 41%. Most buyers are opting for the top-spec “Pack Three” variant, which includes all the bells and whistles.
