Key highlights

  • Kia’s first made-in-India EV offers two battery options with up to 490 km range.
  • Features include Level 2 ADAS, 26.62-inch dual panoramic display, and i-Pedal regenerative braking.
  • Priced between INR 17.99 lakh and INR 24.49 lakh across four variants.

Kia India has officially launched the Carens Clavis EV, marking its entry into the mass-market electric vehicle segment. Priced from INR 17.99 lakh to INR 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Clavis EV is Kia’s first locally manufactured electric vehicle and is positioned as a three-row electric RV built for Indian families.

Available in four variants—HTK Plus, HTX, ER HTX, and ER HTX Plus—the Clavis EV offers two battery pack options:

  • 42 kWh with 404 km ARAI-certified range
  • 51.4 kWh with 490 km ARAI-certified range

Both versions feature a front-mounted electric motor delivering 255 Nm of torque, with power outputs of 99 kW (132 bhp) and 126 kW (169 bhp) respectively. The top-spec variant does 0–100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, making it one of the quickest MPVs in its segment.

Design and Cabin

The Clavis EV retains the silhouette of its ICE sibling but adds EV-specific touches like:

  • Sealed-off grille with front charging port
  • Star Map LED DRLs, ice cube LED headlamps, and connected tail lamps
  • 17-inch aero alloy wheels and 200 mm ground clearance

Inside, it’s all about tech and comfort:

  • 26.62-inch dual panoramic display
  • Ventilated front seats, powered driver seat, and dual-pane sunroof
  • Floating centre console, ambient lighting, and BOSE 8-speaker audio system
  • Smart air purifier, wireless charging, and Boss Mode for second-row seat adjustment

The EV is strictly a 7-seater, unlike the ICE version which offers a 6-seat layout.

EV Tech and Charging

Kia has packed the Clavis EV with practical electric features:

  • i-Pedal mode for one-pedal driving
  • Four levels of regenerative braking via paddle shifters
  • Auto Mode for intelligent regen adjustment
  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability for powering external devices
  • 100 kW DC fast charging: 10–80% in just 39 minutes
  • IP67-certified battery with liquid cooling and extreme condition testing

Home charging options include 7.4 kW and 11 kW AC chargers, and Kia’s K-Charge platform offers access to 11,000+ charging points nationwide.

Safety and ADAS

The Clavis EV comes loaded with Level 2 ADAS, offering 20 autonomous features like:

  • Smart Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Front Collision Avoidance
  • Blind Spot Monitoring, 360-degree camera, and Safe Exit Warning
  • Driver Attention Warning and Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS)

Standard safety kit includes:

  • Six airbags, ESC, Hill Start Assist, Downhill Brake Control, and ISOFIX
