2026 Renault Kwid EV: What to expect?

2026 Renault Kwid EV

Renault has been silently testing its upcoming Kwid EV in India. While the rumours hint at its Indian debut to happen later this year, the production version of the Kwid Electric has been spied in Brazil.

The leaked photos come straight from the company’s Brazil facility, showing hundreds of models in various colours and variants parked in a parking lot, while the close-up shots reveal its design details faintly.

The front fascia of the Kwid EV features a scaled-down design language of the 2025 Renault Duster. It gets the new Y-shaped LED DRLs and masculine bonnet lines with bumper-integrated headlamps.

The rear design is quite subtle as it features Y-shaped LED taillights, a rear wiper with washer and defogger. Instead of a connecting LED lightbar, the taillights are connected via a piano black highlight.

As expected, the Kwid EV is a rebadged version of the Dacia Spring EV, which made its global debut last year. Hence, we can safely assume that it will be offered with the same battery pack and powertrain.

Globally, the Spring EV is sold with a 26.8 kWh battery pack and gets two power options: 44 bhp and 64 bhp. The maximum driving range of the Spring EV is 220 km, which is also expected to be the same on the Kwid EV.

Renault is speculated to launch the Kwid EV in India by the end of this year. It will be positioned against the MG Comet, and the price range will also be similar to the Comet.

Our verdict

Renault is extensively working on introducing new products in India soon. This includes the reintroduction of the iconic Duster, a 7-seater version of Duster called Bigster, and the electric Kwid. All of these models are expected to launch by the end of 2026.
