Next-gen Mercedes-AMG V8 engines will be more powerful
Mercedes recently tried its luck on its performance cars by introducing the puny four-cylinder turbo engines. Cars like the C63 S were a desparate attempt to cut short as per the strict emission norms. However, AMG customers did not like it and it reflected in sales.
Now, after receiving a strong feedback from AMG four-cylinder owners, Mercedes has decided not to cut short any more and make proper V8 engines with more power. In fact, the brand has dropped its plan of axing the V8 forever.
As per a recent media statement given by AMG CEO, Steffen Jastrow, new V8 engines are currently being developed in Affalterbach facility. These engines are supposed to be more powerful than the current V8 powertrains, and also withstand the emission norms of the future.
However, the CEO did not confirm any other details regarding the launch timeline for the new-gen V8 engines, or which models are likely to get these first. But, we suspect that all of it will take place by 2027-28.

The day Mercedes-AMG announced the discontinuation of the V8 engines, we suspected that the customers might not like it. With the sales drop of the AMG performance cars, Mercedes has now realised that more power is the only way further.
