ARAI ADAS Test City: Everything you need to know
Automotive Research Association of India, aka ARAI, is all set to open the first ADAS or autonomous driving assistance system test track for new cars and new technological advancements.
In a latest briefing, Deputy Director of ARAI, Ujwala Karle, told the media that ARAI is currently setting up the ADAS Test City or test facility in Takwe, near Talegaon in Pune, Maharashtra.
This facility will be spread over 20 acres and is likely to have all the modern testing equipment similar to the GNCAP and other global agencies. The test track will replicate the Indian driving conditions that include multiple permutations and combinations like three-wheelers, cattle on the road, bad roads, lack of lane discipline, and more.
To set this new ADAS test track in Pune, ARAI is using its collected data of over 37,000 km on the Golden Quadrilateral and 20 cities, including tier-1, tier-2, and rural environments.
ADAS has become the new safety norm as customers keep pushing for more features and safety. Mass segment cars like Mahindra XUV3X0 are now offering the autonomous driving assistance features, which ARAI will further test and help manufacturers improve further.
ARAI will make the ADAS Test City operational before the ADAS Show on December 12, 2025.
Our say
The upcoming ADAS Test City will not only become the first-ever ADAS testing facility in India, but it will also ensure that the autonomous tech that we use daily is designed according to our conditions and for our safety improvement.
