BYD 13 million NEV production details
Chinese car brand BYD has attained its expertise in manufacturing new energy vehicles, which include EVs, PHEVs, and EREVs. The brand has rolled its 13th millionth NEV in China recently, making it the first-ever carmaker to achieve this feat.
The latest production milestone was achieved at the brand’s Xiaomo-based production facility. The 13th millionth NEV was the Yangwang U7, which is a highly popular car in the Chinese domestic market.
Speaking of the NEV sales, BYD has emerged as a global leader, as the brand has managed to sell more than 2.113 million NEVs in China within the first half of 2025. In comparison to 2024, it is a massive 31.5% sales growth.
Additionally, the brand has been growing rapidly in the international markets as well. It sold more than 4,27,000 units in the global market, which is a stupendous 128.5% year-on-year growth.
Meanwhile, the brand has been keen on expanding its battery and car production base to India, which the government has denied, citing geopolitical reasons.
Our verdict
The new-gen NEVs are becoming rapidly popular in the global market, including India. In fact, international brands like Tesla have entered the Indian NEV market to offer their latest products. BYD has a big scope for expanding its operations in India, if supported by the Indian government.
