Key highlights:
- First production model of BMW’s Neue Klasse electric vehicle generation.
- Up to 805 km range (WLTP) with sixth-generation eDrive tech.
- Debuts Panoramic iDrive, 400 kW ultra-fast charging, and a sustainability-focused design.
BMW has introduced the all-new iX3, the first model from the Neue Klasse lineup.
Design
The iX3 brings a cleaner, more character-driven aesthetic to BMW’s X family. Standing 4,782 mm long and 1,895 mm wide, it carries the robust stance of an SAV while embracing reduced surface treatment and aerodynamic efficiency (Cd 0.24). Vertical kidney grilles, a new light signature, flush door handles, and athletic shoulders reinforce its modern identity. Inside, a minimalist cabin prioritises space and digital interaction, with wrap-around panels, fabric-surfaced dashboards, and newly designed slim seats.
Digital Experience
A defining feature of the iX3 is the BMW Panoramic iDrive, built on the brand-new Operating System X. Information is projected across the windscreen with Panoramic Vision, complemented by a 3D head-up display, a free-cut central screen, and a shy-tech multifunction steering wheel. Enhanced voice interaction, thanks to large-language-model AI integration, adds natural communication between driver and vehicle.
Four new high-performance computing units or “superbrains” control driving dynamics, automated driving, infotainment, and comfort functions, making the iX3 BMW’s first true software-defined vehicle.
Powertrain and Range
Underpinning the iX3 is BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive system. The 50 xDrive variant delivers 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. It accelerates from 0–100 kmph in 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 210 kmph. A 108.7 kWh high-voltage cylindrical-cell battery provides up to 805 km of WLTP range, while 800V charging architecture enables 10–80% top-ups in just 21 minutes at 400 kW DC fast chargers.
Sustainability at the Core
BMW emphasises circularity and reduced emissions in the iX3’s lifecycle. Compared to its predecessor, the SUV lowers its carbon footprint by 34% over 200,000 km. Recycled materials, marine plastics, and secondary aluminium are extensively used, while production at BMW’s Debrecen plant in Hungary is powered without fossil fuels.
Launch timeline
The iX3 50 xDrive will be the first to roll out in autumn 2025, with European deliveries beginning in spring 2026 and the US launch scheduled for summer 2026. China will receive a market-specific version produced locally.
