All-new MY26 Kawasaki KLX230R S launched at INR 1.94 Lakh

Key highlights

  • KLX230R S launched at INR 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom), manufactured locally for India
  • Features a 233cc fuel-injected engine, long-travel suspension, and 270 mm ground clearance
  • Designed for pure off-road riding with motocross-style wheels and race-inspired styling

India Kawasaki Motors has officially launched the MY26 KLX230R S, a purpose-built off-road motorcycle priced at INR 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom). Engineered for trail enthusiasts and weekend warriors, the KLX230R S is Kawasaki’s latest move to make off-road riding more accessible and exciting for Indian riders.

This new model is locally manufactured, which not only brings the price down but also makes it easier to maintain and service. It’s not road-legal, and that’s the point, this bike is built to tear through dirt, not cruise city streets.

Engine and Performance

At the heart of the KLX230R S is a 233cc air-cooled, fuel-injected SOHC single-cylinder engine, tuned for strong low- and mid-range torque. It produces 19 PS at 7,800 rpm and 19.1 Nm at 6,200 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and electric start.

The throttle response is crisp, even at altitude or in changing weather, thanks to its fuel injection system. Whether you’re climbing rocky trails or blasting through forest paths, the engine delivers consistent power with minimal fuss.

Suspension and Frame

The KLX230R S rides on a high-tensile steel perimeter frame, keeping weight down to just 129 kg. Suspension duties are handled by a 37 mm telescopic front fork with 220 mm travel, and a New Uni-Trak rear shock with 223 mm travel and adjustable preload.

With a 900 mm seat height and 270 mm ground clearance, it strikes a balance between aggressive trail stance and rider approachability. The redesigned subframe and seat cushioning improve comfort without compromising control.

Wheels, Brakes, and Grip

The bike rolls on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels, wrapped in motocross-style knobby tyres for maximum grip on loose terrain. Braking is handled by 240 mm front and 220 mm rear petal discs, offering strong and consistent stopping power even on steep descents.

Styling and Ergonomics

Inspired by Kawasaki’s KX motocross series, the KLX230R S features:

  • Race-style number plate front fascia
  • Flat seat profile for unrestricted movement
  • Minimalist bodywork with flush seams
  • Black wheel rims and Lime Green paint scheme

It’s built to look fast even when parked—and it backs that up with real trail capability.

Booking and Availability

Bookings are open with a token amount of INR 5,000. Deliveries begin in the first week of October 2025. Riders can also sign up for Kawasaki’s Green Academy, which offers off-road training programs in Pune, Bangalore, and Mumbai using bikes like the KLX230R S.
