MINI has teamed up with lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina to present two unique one-off John Cooper Works models. Dubbed “The Skeg” and “The Machina,” these creations blend MINI’s racing DNA with Deus’ surf and motorcycle culture. Both are designed as rolling statements of creativity, performance, and lifestyle.

The Skeg – Electric surf vibes

The first model, The Skeg, is based on the MINI JCW Electric with 190 kW (258 hp). Its design borrows cues from surf culture, featuring semi-transparent fiberglass panels that cut weight by 15%. A Flex Tip Surf Spoiler mimics the flow of a surfboard on a wave, while neoprene bucket seats and fiberglass trays inside nod to beach life functionality. Yellow and silver paintwork, wide fenders, and illuminated details add to its futuristic stance.

The Machina – Racing spirit unleashed

The Machina, powered by a 231 hp combustion JCW, is a throwback to MINI’s motorsport heritage. A red, black, and white livery with Deus branding, rally-style bonnet lights, and a Can-Am-inspired rear spoiler highlight its racing intent. The interior is stripped down with raw aluminium floors, racing harnesses, a roll cage, and a hydraulic handbrake – a pure nod to motorsport DNA.

Beyond Cars

MINI and Deus extend this collaboration into fashion. A capsule apparel collection inspired by motorsport and surf aesthetics will launch at IAA Munich before hitting global retail and e-commerce channels. With bold graphics, raw finishes, and hand-crafted details, the cars and clothing embody a “beauty of imperfection” ethos.

Our thoughts

One’s a surfer, the other’s a racer but, both scream individuality. MINI and Deus didn’t just make cars; they made art on wheels. And with an apparel line to match, this is less about transportation and more about living the lifestyle.
