Maruti Suzuki is finally ready to pull the wraps off its new midsize SUV, and yes, it’s officially called the Victoris. Slated for launch on September 3, this new model will sit between the Brezza and Grand Vitara in Maruti’s lineup and will be sold through the brand’s Arena dealerships. That’s a strategic move as Arena has over 3,000 outlets across India, giving Victoris a massive reach right out of the gate.
Design and dimensions
Built on Suzuki’s Global-C platform, the same architecture as the Grand Vitara, Victoris is expected to be slightly longer than its Nexa sibling. Spy shots reveal a more upright bonnet, sleek LED headlamps, and a boomerang-style tail lamp setup. Think Grand Vitara with a sportier, crossover twist.
Inside, expect a floating touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and ventilated seats. The dashboard layout may differ slightly to reflect Arena’s positioning, but the equipment list will be generous2.
Powertrain options
Victoris will borrow its engines from the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. That means:
- 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol (103 PS, 137 Nm)
- 1.5L strong-hybrid petrol (116 PS combined)
- 1.5L petrol+CNG (88 PS in CNG mode)
Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and e-CVT for the hybrid variant. AllGrip AWD may be offered on higher trims, giving Victoris some off-road credibility.
