Citroen Basalt support cars for JK National Racing Championship ’25
As per the latest announcement, Citroen will be supplying the official support cars to the 28th iteration of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship this year. The support cars will include the safety cars and medic cars to ensure a flawless racing event.
Citroen has chosen the Basalt coupe-SUV as its official JKNRC 2025 partner. The Basalt, which was launched a few months ago, has been rated as an underrated product that has good potential in terms of handling, performance, and stability – all necessary for a track-focused support car.
As far as the JK National Racing Championship is concerned, it began on August 8 at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. However, after three rounds, the grand finale of this year’s JKNRC is scheduled from November 14-16 at Kari Motor Speedway, where the Basalt will feature as a support car.
Functions of the Citroen Basalt support car at JKNRC
A support car can be of different types, which include a medical car, a safety car, and a stunt car. The safety car is responsible for handling the safety of the competitors on the track. It acts as a beacon and a guide car during bad weather, ensures the safety of marshals and contenders, removes debris from the track, and helps in warming up tyres at a controlled lap speed.
Meanwhile, the medical car is equipped with the SOS medical backup. It is strategically designed with modern medical facilities to provide the best first response in case of an accident. Similarly, the stunt car or support car helps in guiding controlled stunts that are meant for public entertainment.
Our say
Citroen’s debut in Indian motorsport is a big initiative for the French brand, which has been struggling lately with low sales and poor marketing in India. The JKNRC support car is likely to induce sense of enthusiasm among new potential buyers for Citroen.
