- BMW F 450 GS spotted testing in Europe with production-ready bodywork and alloy wheels
- Powered by a new 450cc parallel-twin engine with optional semi-automatic transmission
- Expected India launch in early 2026 via TVS-BMW partnership, priced around INR 5 lakh
BMW Motorrad’s much-anticipated F 450 GS has been spotted testing in near-production form, and it looks ready to hit showrooms sooner than expected. First revealed as a concept at EICMA 2024, the F 450 GS is set to replace the outgoing G 310 GS and slot below the F 800 GS, offering a more capable and refined entry into BMW’s adventure lineup.
The test mule, seen in Europe, wears full production-spec bodywork and features a redesigned front end, split seats, and a bolt-on subframe. The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, wrapped in dual-purpose tyres. Spoked wheels may be offered as optional accessories for off-road purists.
Design: GS DNA with a modern twist
The F 450 GS borrows heavily from the R 1300 GS, sporting a quad-LED DRL setup, a tall windscreen with air inlet, and layered bodywork. The concept’s rally-style seat has been swapped for a more practical split-seat setup, and the exhaust now sits lower to accommodate luggage mounts3.
Patent leaks confirm the final design, including a TFT display, rotary jog dial, and semi-automatic transmission—likely a cost-effective version of BMW’s ASA system. Expect features like ride modes, traction control, and cornering ABS to be part of the package2.
Engine and Performance
Under the tank sits a newly developed 450cc parallel-twin engine, producing around 48 hp and 45 Nm. It’s paired with a 6-speed gearbox, and BMW may offer a semi-automatic transmission as an optional extra. The bike is built on a steel trellis frame, with USD forks up front and a rear monoshock, tuned for both road and trail use.
India Launch and Pricing
The F 450 GS will be manufactured by TVS at its Hosur plant, continuing the successful BMW-TVS partnership. Expect an India launch in early 2026, with pricing around INR 5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, and the upcoming CFMoto 450 MT.
