Mahindra Vision SXT rear design teased ahead of August 15 debut

Key highlights

  • New teaser reveals a pickup-style rear with dual spare tyres and a see-through load bed
  • Slim tail lamps, flared arches, and chunky bumper hint at rugged off-road intent
  • Likely to be an evolution of Mahindra’s Global Pik-Up concept, possibly electric

Mahindra has dropped yet another teaser for its upcoming Vision SXT concept, and this time, it’s all about the rear. With the official unveiling set for August 15, the latest visuals confirm what many suspected—the Vision SXT is shaping up to be a Scorpio-N-based pickup truck, but with a futuristic twist.

The teaser shows a flat-bed cargo area with dual spare tyres strapped in, a design detail that echoes the Global Pik-Up concept showcased in 2023. However, unlike the earlier concept’s solid tailgate, the Vision SXT features a see-through panel below the load bed, adding a unique visual element and possibly aiding rear visibility.

Design details

The rear profile sports slim LED tail lamps, flared wheel arches, and a chunky rear bumper—all classic cues of a lifestyle pickup. Previous teasers revealed a clamshell bonnet, boxy silhouette, and angular wheel arches, suggesting serious off-road capability. The suspension setup and all-terrain tyres seen earlier only reinforce that impression.

Interestingly, the Vision SXT shares some design DNA with the Vision T concept, including a creased bonnet and protruding bumper. Whether this means it’s part of the Thar family or a standalone model remains to be seen.

Platform and powertrain possibilities

The Vision SXT will ride on Mahindra’s new multi-energy platform, capable of supporting petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains. While Mahindra hasn’t confirmed the powertrain for the SXT, the teaser’s clean lines and futuristic touches suggest it could be an all-electric lifestyle pickup.

This aligns with Mahindra’s broader strategy to electrify its SUV lineup while retaining rugged capability. The concept will be showcased alongside three other models and the new platform at the Freedom NU event on August 15.

Our thoughts

The dual spare tyres and see-through tailgate scream adventure, while the clean lines hint at a tech-forward future. If this concept morphs into a production-ready electric pickup with Thar DNA and a price that doesn’t require selling a kidney, I’ll be first in line—camping gear packed, playlist queued.
