Honda N-One e, a perfect electric car for India?

The new N-One e is Honda’s smallest EV around the globe. It has been designed on the Kei car principle, and it features a tallboy design with small wheels and a spacious cabin for city driving.

The overall boxy design gets a big glass area, circular LED DRL headlights, and a front-mounted electric charger point. On the inside, it features a minimalist design with a functional dashboard, a dashboard-integrated gear shift button console, and a two-spoke steering wheel.

The N-One e features multiple physical buttons, a touchscreen infotainment system, a phone holder slot, a digital instrument cluster, and numerous cubby holes for storage purposes. Customers can also opt for additional features like the dash-top battery status LED indicator and Shelby-style twin stripes for the exterior.

Honda is yet to reveal the complete details regarding its architecture and battery capacity, but the N-One e comes fitted with a single electric motor churning out 63 bhp of power. Online reports suggest that it will use the same battery pack as the N-Van e, which shall offer a range upwards of 245 km. It also gets a single-pedal drive mode.

One of the best bits about the little EV is its V2L or vehicle-to-load charging capability. This allows users to charge home appliances and other electrical devices by using the car’s battery. However, customers will be required to purchase a cable and adapter from Honda’s official accessory list.

As far as the launch plans are concerned, Honda has begun pre-bookings of the N-One e in Japan. The official deliveries will start in September, while the European market will get the EV by the end of this year.

For the other markets like the US and India, the brand has no plans for launching the N-One e.

Our say

The N-One e seems to be a perfect vehicle for city use. It is small, easy to drive, and features ample space for a small family. Moreover, Honda’s trusted engineering finesse is also encouraging to purchase it over its rivals.
