Volvo EX30 EV: What to expect?
Volvo introduced the EX30 electric crossover internationally in 2023. It has been designed over Geely’s SEA platform, which allows for rapid charging support and optimum performance and efficiency.
The test car seen in the spy images has been covered partially, indicating that it is possibly undergoing a homologation test run. The production-spec model seen in the photos is similar to the international-spec car.
Volvo is expected to position it below the EX40 and the EC40 Recharge models in India. The design of the EX30 is based on the company’s latest philosophy, which features a minimalist approach.
At the front, it is equipped with the Thor-hammer LED lights and a closed grille with aero dams in the bumper. The side profile uses a rather simple design with large glass area and big aero wheels with low rolling resistance tyres. At the rear, it gets the vertical LED taillights and a flat boot lid design.
Powering the EX30 EV in the global market are two battery options: 51 kWh and 69 kWh. The 51 kWh version is equipped with a two-wheel drive configuration, which makes 268 bhp and 343 Nm, while offering 344 km of range.
Meanwhile, the top-spec 69 kWh battery option is loaded with an all-wheel drive configuration, which offers 422 bhp and 543 Nm, with a 480 km range (WTLP cycle).
Volvo is expected to launch the EX30 in India by the upcoming festive season. The EX30 will be priced around Rs 50 lakh.
Our say
Volvo has been struggling with low sales and decreasing brand value internationally due to the lack of products and new launches. The Swedish carmaker has shifted its focus completely to EVs, which seems to be working positively for the company. The new EX30 will possibly increase the sales and brand value of Volvo in India.
