Maruti Suzuki Fronx 5 lakh production milestone details
The new milestone of achieving the 5 lakh production mark by Fronx is commendable and positive for the brand. Launched in 2023, Fronx is based on the Baleno hatchback, offering a crossover design and more features with a premium appeal.
Fronx has also become the highest exported passenger vehicle in FY2024-25. As per the details, one in every five units of the Fronx produced is exported to the global markets by Maruti.
Maruti Fronx is available in India from a starting price of Rs 7.54 lakh (ex-showroom). It is sold with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. Moreover, for economy lovers, Maruti offers a bi-fuel CNG version based on the 1.2-litre engine, mated to a 5-speed transmission.
However, the Fronx is the only Maruti vehicle currently on sale that offers the option of a turbo-petrol engine. It is also available with the 1.0-litre Boosterjet three-cylinder engine, which is offered with the option of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The primary reason behind the high sales of Fronx is its stylish SUV looks and affordable yet feature-loaded mid-spec variants, which are offered with multiple drivetrain and transmission combinations.
With that said, Maruti had witnessed the peak sales of Fronx in February 2025, when it sold 21,400 units. Whereas, it had already achieved the fastest 1 lakh sales in just 10 months of the launch.
Our say
The Maruti Fronx is a popular crossover hatchback that offers good value for money, especially for the mid-variants. Additionally, it is sold with a more capable 1.5L engine internationally, which has resulted in its rapid sales and production.
