2025 VLF Tennis electric scooter launched with subtle updates

Key highlights

  • New Slate Blue and Ebony Black colours join the palette, keeping the design fresh.
  • Range increased to 150 km (IDC) thanks to upgraded LMFP battery tech.
  • Price remains unchanged at INR 1.29 lakh, despite added features like USB charging and smartphone connectivity.

VLF India has launched the updated Tennis 1500 electric scooter, and while it doesn’t scream for attention, it quietly improves where it matters. The 2025 version brings two new colours, a 20 km bump in range, and a few thoughtful additions, all while holding the line on pricing at INR 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom).

Designed by Alessandro Tartarini, the man behind Lambretta and Italjet, the Tennis 1500 blends retro charm with modern practicality. The new Slate Blue and Ebony Black shades join the existing Fire Fury Red and Snowflake White, giving buyers more visual variety without messing with the scooter’s clean, angular silhouette.

Battery and performance

The biggest upgrade lies under the apron. VLF has swapped the older battery for a Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate (LMFP) unit with an aluminium casing. This change boosts the IDC-certified range to 150 km, improves heat resistance, and enhances safety—especially important in India’s sweltering summers.

The hub motor now peaks at 2.57 kW, up from 1.47 kW, and delivers a punchy 157 Nm of torque at the wheel. With a kerb weight of just 88 kg, the scooter feels lively in traffic. Top speed is 65 km/h, and charging takes about 3 hours using the bundled 720W portable charger.

Features

VLF didn’t go overboard with gimmicks. Instead, it added features that improve daily usability:

  • USB charging port (finally!)
  • 5-inch full-colour TFT display with smartphone pairing
  • Keyless start and side-stand motor cut-off
  • Three riding modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport
  • Full LED lighting, 18-litre under-seat storage, and 12-inch alloy wheels
  • Disc brakes at both ends with CBS (Combined Braking System)2

The suspension setup remains unchanged—telescopic forks up front and a cantilever hydraulic monoshock at the rear—tuned for city comfort.

Availability and what’s next

Deliveries begin November 25, 2025, in select cities including New Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Kolhapur, Sangli, Goa, and Ahmedabad3. VLF also confirmed its upcoming Mobster 125 and 180 petrol scooters, expected to launch later this year, signaling a dual-powertrain strategy for broader market reach.
